TICKETS NOW ON SALE FOR THE FOURTH EDITION EVENT; 50+ EMERGING BLACK ARTISTS TO EXHIBIT WORK IN INDIANAPOLIS THIS LABOR DAY WEEKEND
INDIANAPOLIS (July 9, 2024) – For its 2024 edition, BUTTER: A Fine Art Fair will bring together 50+ emerging and established artists, presenting artworks across all media–from painting and sculpture to collage and installation art. The work of this year’s exhibiting artists have been featured on the cover of TIME, at Disney’s D-23 Expo, and in solo exhibitions at Indianapolis’ most historic landmarks and community centers, including the Madam Walker Legacy Center and the Harrison Center.
The 2024 fair will present work from 21 emerging and 29 established artists, including 27 returning BUTTER artists from Indiana and across the globe.
“GANGGANG recognizes the undeniable impact artists have when their work and stories are in the spotlight,” said Deonna Craig, Director of BUTTER Fine Art Fair. “We are dedicated to celebrating creativity and culture, championing artistic voices, and encouraging the development of a new generation of visionaries. BUTTER is committed to honoring powerful storytelling, artistic excellence, and the spirit of artists supporting other artists.”
Within this highly accomplished lineup of visual artists are Indy Arts Council Grant awardees, recipients of Indiana’s most distinguished honors and awards in the arts, former professional athletes, children’s book illustrators, founders of Indianapolis-based art exhibitions, and university faculty.

Malina Simone Bacon and Alan Bacon, Founders of GANGGANG and BUTTER Fine Art Fair, will serve as Creative Directors and Curators alongside Deonna Craig, Director of BUTTER Fine Art Fair. Joining the curatorial team for the first time this year are Dr. Colette Pierce Burnette, drum major for justice and equity through education and the arts, Chicago-based Kendall Hurns, multi-hyphenate culture converter, and Nakeyta Moore, an LA-based fine art specialist and brand developer.
Since its inception in 2021, BUTTER has welcomed over 112 local and national artists, selling a combined total of $749,000 worth of artwork—including 19 BUTTER artworks acquired by 9 major institutions for their permanent collections. BUTTER has maximized the earnings of Black visual artists by selling or loaning 100% of the exhibiting works, giving 100% of the proceeds back to the artists.
BUTTER is made possible because of support from generous organizations and individuals like Title Sponsor AES Indiana and will take place from August 29 to September 1, 2024. Tickets are now on sale at www.butterartfair.com. General Admission tickets are $40, which includes unlimited access to all three days. Preview Night tickets are $150 and include General Admission weekend return access. Students 18 and under are free.
